Meeting with Tanzania’s Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports

Ambassador of the Russian Federation Mr.Andrey Avetisyan had a meeting with Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports of Tanzania Dr. Pindi Chana.

The meeting was held at the office of the Ministry located inside the Benjamin Mkapa stadium that hosts major national football events. Dr. Chana demonstrated the stadium to Ambassador Avetisyan and presented him with gifts.

The parties raised their interest in bolstering ties in the fields of culture and sports. Dr. Chana expressed hope that Russian artists would actively participate in cultural events hosted by Tanzania.

Russian Ambassador, in turn, informed the Tanzanian side on the scholarships of the Government of the Russian Federation, including ones that cover majoring in creative fields at specialized Russian higher education institutions, which are granted to Tanzanian students on an annual basis. This opportunity will undoubtedly be beneficial for increasing the number of professionals in Tanzania’s cultural sphere as well as promoting the cultural dialogue between the two nations. Ambassador Avetisyan also briefed the Minister on the activities of the Russian House in Dar es Salaam, which carries out various projects in the field of culture, and invited Dr. Chana, who speaks Russian, to visit concerts of Russian professional musicians.
